At its 46th Congress, in 1971, the CSN officially adopted its current insignia: three mutually reinforcing metal ligatures, which express the strength of the bond that unites workers. These three elements represent the organizational forms that comprise the CSN: the Unions, the Federations, and the Regional Councils. The strength of this bond is in the union of the three ligatures – also representing autonomy, democracy, and solidarity – which form the very core of the CSN’s existence and action.
